The tour has started!

Just so everyone is in the loop, the car has started its trip across the north east of Scotland, it left ASDA Inverness this morning and has now made its way to Elgin ASDA. The lovely community girls there are going to be raffling off a signed 2011 season Celtic shirt and a huge hamper of delicious Walkers Shortbread. Keep an eye out for the car! Don't forget, if you want to sponsor us then just head to http://www.justgiving.com/Scott-Wilson10 and also leave a comment on here or on my facebook page if you want to have your name on the car!

Vinyls are now on the car!

After many delays and dramas, the vinyl's finally went on the car this afternoon, Helpful hint, soapy water helps, just be sure to squeegee all the excess water out! i did a couple of test patches to see which would work best, (you can see them on the back quarter of the car.) The car has now been placed in the car park at the new ASDA Inverness, so if you want to go and have a look, it will be there all weekend. Darren will also be there if you want to get your name on it! For a donation you will have the opportunity to write a message or sign your name on the car. so go along and see what all the fuss is about! If you cant make it to Inverness, don't panic, it will be making its way across the north east of Scotland! if you cant make it then leave a comment on here and just donate via my just giving page! That is http://www.justgiving.com/Scott-Wilson10
Thanks guys!

Fellow Motoscapers, Have YOU booked your ferry yet?

Just a quick note to those fellow Motoscapers who haven't booked their ferry yet. I've been in touch with both P&O and DFDS Seaways regarding possibly getting a discounted rate for our ferry crossing. P&O sadly couldn't give us a discount due to other charitable commitments. however, DFDS just gave us an amazing deal! FREE! So if any of you are doing this for charity and are looking to save costs, why not see what the guys at DFDS can do for you! Any queries just give me a shout.

Thank yous, so far....

I would just like to take this time a put in a quick mention to all the great people that have offered support and donations so far. You have no idea how grateful I am, particularly in this difficult economic climate its humbling to see people still going that extra mile for a good cause.

First of all massive thank you to the guys at Edge Signs for offering us a cracking discount so that we can get some sponsor logos on our car! Check out these guys if your looking for some great high quality vinyl's!

Secondly a HUGE thank you to the guys at DFDS Seaways for donating the free crossings! this was so much more than what I was expecting so thank you so much!

Car design

I find myself being stumped. here i have, what is really a blank canvas, something to create a masterpiece on, but i really have no idea on what i want to do.
Either i get a whole bunch of stickers and cover the car. i feel i have to pay tribute to Honda so that will be featuring heavily also i have to make space on the car for the charities we are driving for. And Daz wants a Scotland flag on the roof so that will have to happen. That still leaves an awful lot of space,
My solution is i make lots of white space on the car for people to sign their support on the car. the only concern with this is then i have a bunch of random white blocks all over the car and i fear that may look a little silly. What do you guys think? Anyone else got any ideas? let me know.

First drive: Nissan primera sport.

Finally got a chance to drive our new car, and honestly, it is probably the bast £200 ever spent for a car! Ok, so that might be a slight exaggeration but still, its a cracking motor for being 12 years old!
Drove it back to Elgin, around town the steering is heavy, but to be fair we wont be spending a massive amount of time in towns. (hopefully!) once i got it out of town it cruises quietly with very little engine noise, only doing 2500rpm. i was slightly apprehensive about the automatic box. but my fears soon faded as soon as i put my foot down for an overtake, it shifted down almost instantly and shot toward the horizon. there was no drama just smooth power delivery. Arriving at the far side of Keith got slowed down by a tractor so decided to take the back road to Elgin. now i would get a chance to really test it!
As a solid fan of manual gearboxes in the twisties i almost found myself defecting to the dark side. I was stunned! an automatic that is very almost as fun to drive as a manual. My reality has just been knocked on its ass!
Normally i was never a fan of Nissan, and after a bad experience with a Micra. but dislike soon developed into a deep seated hatred. but now, now i find myself beginning to reverse this. i will forever hate the Micra, that will never change. it will forever be a passion that will stay with me. however other nissans, i really cant fault their build quality. they may not be the most attractive cars on the road, but this car has done 12 years. granted its onlyt 39000 miles but even so, i would think it might have some annoying rattle or quirk. but after 12 years all the major electrics are still working perfectly, including the sunroof and wing mirrors. there are no squeaks or rattles and most importantly it is a joy to drive! the only thing that isn't working is the CD multi changer. but I'm sure we will be able to survive without that.
A massive thank you once again to Scott at Town and County Honda in Aberdeen for getting us such a cracking car! Muchas gracias senoir!

First Blog!

OK, so here it is! the first Blog of many (Hopefully)! this is the start of my 2012 Adventure! At the end of last year i came up with this wacky idea of doing a banger rally, cos y'know, it sounded like a good idea at the time. so here we are, 3 months down the line actually properly starting it! We are registered on www.motoscape-rally.co.uk under ASDA. (yea, I know, I'm sad, I had to put something though!) Hopefully will get that changed soon enough. Anyway, as i was saying, we are 3 months down the line, registered and now looking at raising £10000 for charity. Tickled Pink, Everyman, Cash for Kids and The Jasmine Foundation.

The Banger rally we have chosen is covering 10 countries in 7 days, although we are covering 12 countries in 10 days as we are starting form ASDA Bridge of Dee on the 1st September. and are planning on stopping at a few stores on the way down to raise some more cash.

At the start i said i would like to start a blog to let everyone know how things are going and also to inform anyone else who is thinking on doing something like this. so they can learn from our mistakes!

So at the moment we are just raising some PR about the whole event but thats not to say we havent raised some money. we raised a whopping £21 so far! Granted its not a massive start but we raise that every day we will have over £3000!

Thankfully we are hopefully going to be raising more than that. we have a number of bag packing days that are going to be happening throughout the year with the first one being on Friday the 10th Feb. anyone willing to help out at any of these please see myself, Lewis Millar or Darren Reid or drop us an email. any help would be greatly appreciated.

We don't have a car at present but the hunt is certainly on! Once we have it i will update you on the specifics. it will be placed outside the Bridge of Dee most of the time but keep an eye out as it may make an appearance at a fun day near you!

We are looking for sponsors for this fantastic opportunity, if your a business and you want some cheap advertising please feel free to get in touch as any sponsor will get their name on the car!

Will keep you posted on developments as they happen.

Wish us luck!

Scott, Darren and Lewis
